36.0Diastrous flooding occurs. The Fifth Street Bridge floods. Flood waters enter many homes and business in and near Macon that are located behind the levee. Interstate 16 and 75 will flood in Macon and will be closed.
35.4Major and extensive flooding occurs. This is the record crest of 35.4 feet which occurred on July 6...1994 when Tropical Storm Alberto caused 10 to 13 inches of rainfall at and upstream from Macon. The levee at Macon which is near 30 feet will breech. Flood waters enter many homes and business in and near Macon that are located behind the levee. Interstate 16 and 75 will flood in Macon and will be closed.
33.0Serious flooding occurs. Many streets...businesses...and homes flood along the Ocmulgee River in and near Macon. Major roads are flooded and closed. Interstate 16 and 75 will flood in Macon. Evacuations are required!
30.0Major flooding begins. The levee in Macon will be topped. Water will quickly fill many streets including MLK...Fifth Street...and Riverside. The Ocmulgee Heritage Trail Baseball Complex floods. Many homes and businesses along the river will flood including the Macon Telegraph. Sandbag efforts are needed. Interstate 16 and 75 will begin to experience flooding especially at on and off ramps in Macon. Evacuations are required immediately!
29.0Moderate flooding continues. The water reaches the top of the arches of Main Street Bridge.
26.0Moderate flooding begins. Private levees which protect Burns Brick Company and Cherokee Brick and Tile Company will begin to overtop. Water begins to enter floors of a few businesses. Southern Railroad tracks also become inundated.
23.0Minor flooding continues to expand.
21.0Minor flooding continues. Much of the Macon Greenway Ocmulgee Heritage Trail will flood north of the Fifth Street Bridge. Agricultural flooding increase north and south of Macon.
20.0Minor flooding expands. An increasing amount of the Macon GreenWay Ocmulgee Heritage Trail floods north of the Fifth Street Bridge. Both banks overflow upstream from the Fifth Street Bridge.
19.0Minor flooding continues. The Macon Greenway Ocmulgee Heritage Trail will begin to flood in areas just north of the Fifth Street Bridge. Citizens of the trail will need to stop use. In addition...the lowest sections of the Charles Jones Gateway Park will flood.
18.0Flood Stage is reached. Minor flooding of agricultural lands downstream from the gage will occur.
16.0Some high water will begin to back up into low agricultural lands in low spots.
