Flood waters at the edge of Lyons. Homes and river cabins heavily damaged in Newberry. Frantic sandbagging of Elnora levee. Elnora levee was compromised. |

After flood waters recede...local residents count 54 different places where stone ballast was washed from under the railroad tracks. |

Fish Creek south of Freedom was a river and washed out a water line. |

The junction of SR 57...SR 54 and US highway 231 flooded by backwater from local stream. The combination of backwater from the White and heavy local rain flooded SR 67 just north of Switz City in addition to the portion of the road flooded just south of Worthington. |

Residents in the north and western sections of Worthington were evacuated. State Road 67 south of Worthington was flooded. The Governor referred to Worthington as Isle of Worthington because Worthington is surrounded by the Eel and White Rivers. | 31.0 | During the June 2008 flood...on Sunday June 8 the town of Worthington awoke to find themselves surrounded by flood waters. The Elliston reading was 31 feet and rising and the Worthington reading at SR 157 south of town was 29.3 feet and rising. The Eel River had poured over its banks and flowed westward and southward covering SR 157 north of Worthington and SR 67 south of Worthington. SR 67 north was thought to be too dangerous to cross as the water was within a foot of the bridge deck. |
